North Tawton Town Centre Car Park – proposed changes to disabled parking bays

NORTH TAWTON TOWN COUNCIL

Dear Resident

NORTH TAWTON MAIN TOWN CAR PARK:

PROPOSED CHANGES TO THE DISABLED PARKING BAYS

The Town Council has carried out a survey of the use of the Disabled parking spaces in the main car park.

The survey concluded that the use of the disabled spaces by legitimate users (holders of a Blue Badge) was quite low – on average less than one-third of the time.

However, at times all the disabled spaces were occupied by vehicles not displaying a blue badge, which means the drivers were not entitled to park in that bay.  This is preventing users who genuinely need a disabled parking space from being able to park in the Town.

The Town Council recognises that we have limited parking in the Town so we plan to remove one disabled space and replace it with two new standard bays.  Please see the diagram for this proposal.

To ensure that a disabled space is always available for genuine users, we will also be carrying out a campaign to remind drivers they should not park in any of the disabled spaces unless they display a Blue Badge.

If you have any comments on this proposal please contact the Town Council by 31st March 2021.

You can write to the Town Council at 14a The Square, North Tawton, EX20 2EP or you can e-mail:
